Only twelve miles away, and therefore an easy taxi ride from Springwood, Dorking Halls offers cinema and live theatre …. and Beer Festivals!
Over recent years there has been a trend towards home-grown and organic foods and sustainable living and, in a similar vein within the brewing industries, a focus has been given to the production of Craft Beers.
It is generally accepted that a craft brewer is “small, independent and traditional” although in the UK these definitions are not necessarily rigidly prescribed. It is usually safe to assume, however, that Craft Beer is generally produced by people whose interest is inspired by the taste of the beer and not what will just a ‘best-seller’.
The Dorking Winter Beer Fest takes place on Friday 27th to Sunday 29th November and features a selection of 40 craft ales from around the UK; many of these are produced by new independent breweries and have built up relationships with the joint events organiser’s Surrey Craft Beer.
The first beer festival was held in December 2014 and was a resounding success with a total of seventeen breweries showcasing drinks such as American Pale Ale, Barley Wine, Winter Meltdown, Red India Ale, Grey Ghost IPA and Oatmeal Stout.
These craft beers came from breweries such as Dorking Brewery, Hedgehog Brewery, Tillingbourne Brewery and Crooked Brook.
Enjoy a winter weekend away with comfortable accommodation at Springwood and ‘eat, drink and be merry’ at the Dorking Beer Festival!
