The Rural Life Centre

The Rural Life Centre is a country life museum, founded by the late Mr & Mrs Henry Jackson and is now run by a charitable trust. It is pleasantly distributed over ten acres of field, woodland and barns. The centre exhibits a large number of implements and devices marking over 150 years of farming. Many aspects of village and rural life are also displayed in realistic individual settings. There is so much to explore!

Runnymede Air Force Memorial

A stunningly peaceful site with great views from Windsor to Heathrow if you climb the steps to the top of the memorial. A real hidden gem! Get on the top of Coopers Hill overlooking Runnymede, the birthplace of modern democracy, and the River Thames it affords wonderful views from Windsor in the west with its magnificent castle to the city of London and beyond in the east. Dedicated to the WW2 Aircrews who were lost fighting for Britain and whose remains have no known grave, this is a memorial of immense gravitas. The setting is serene and totally lacking any hint of commercial exploitation. If you are in the area don’t miss it.

Southern Pursuits

If you are looking for something a bit more active Southern Pursuits is the ultimate destination for outdoor activities across West Sussex covering a 450 acre site.  The centre is aimed mainly at adults and you don’t need to hold a driving license either. Each activity lasts about an hour, including 15 minutes training, and there’s something for everyone including All terrain quad biking, Rage buggies, Argo cats, Clay Pigeon Shooting, Archery and a Hovercraft experience.  And whilst you’re there there’s bound to be time to dip into the on-site Restaurant for a bite to eat and recharge your batteries ready for more fun.

Blubell Railway Station

Often featured in films and television, most recently as “Downton” in the popular Downton Abbey series. The station was built in 1882 by the London Brighton and South Coast Railway. The Bluebell Railway has restored the station to the Southern Railway period – mid 1920s.  The railway offers a range of year round events on their steam hauled trains.

Guilford Museum

Set in a series of historic buildings just a couple of minutes’ walk from Guildford High Street, the Museum is full of charm and interest.
